Burton Am Series: Slopestyle
The Burton Am Series gives unknown riders the chance to compete for a qualify spot in the US Open. This year’s slopestyle comp went down at Park City Mountain Resort on Jan. 22. The weather moved from sunny to white out in a matter of minutes but that didn’t stop the riders from throwing down their best tricks in hopes of snagging first place and a shot at the big time. People Under The Stairs @ Urban Lounge
Found myself once again at Urban Lounge last weekend, the night of the January 22nd. Kicked off the night with the hip-hop group, Scenic Byway who threw down for a stoked crowd of onlookers. People Under the Stairs came on around 1am with a bang and jumped right into the fray, dropping beats and lyrics like hot bricks. The booze was flowing like wine and the energy in Urban was cranked up to 11. Great night, good music.

Dan Christofferson – Terrible. Gentle. Man.
Friday night January 21st saw the opening of SLC artist Dan Christofferson’s solo show at Blonde Grizzly entitled Terrible.Gentle.Man. Christofferson focuses on strong colors, strong lines, and the questions of who we are and why.
The show displayed new work by Christofferson which touches upon local and global questions of inner existence and outer perceptions. One of the most interesting and visually strong pieces is entitled Wasatch, which seemed to be a direct social commentary on what those on the ‘right’ in SLC might feel to be proper, but which many more find more off-putting than comforting. The matryoshka featured in several of Christofferson’s pieces demand that we look inside to find how we function, while asking that we look outside to find the reason why.
Terrible.Gentle.Man shows through Tuesday, February 11th at Blonde Grizzly on 15 E. and 400 S. Check it out before it’s gone! … read more

Space Craft Saints art show by FICE and Spacecraft.
Stefan Hofmann’s Spacecraft Saints and the downfall of Modern Man opened on Friday Dec. 10th at FICE to a steady flow of stoked people. In addition to the amazing artwork done by Stefan Hofmann, locals Mike Murdock, and Dan Christofferson were also representing. There was more PBR than you could shake a stick at and the party went off with a BANG. Stefan, the main artist exhibited, and innovator of Spacecraft briefly described the process by which he stepped into this collection of pieces. He had lived in Bali for an extended period of time after college and saw the potential to produce art meshed with clothing as a way to expose his ideals and the imagery in his head to the general public. This art show was a culmination of this realization, including images designed by Hofmann, hand printed in Bali by acrylic painters and then delivered to the US to be shown and eventually incorporated into apparel.
The night was a great success with much thanks to Cory and Laura at FICE, all the artists and of course Pabst Blue Ribbon.
