A first time Craft Lake City artist, Memmott’s work is on the pop art end of the spectrum and heavy on appropriation—think sci-fi/comic book nerd Andy Warhol. The subject matter ranges from sci-fi stuff (including pretty sweet Star Trek: DSN Quark and Star Trek: TNG Worf masks) to his Utah history inspired work. … read more

The third annual Craft Lake City on August 13 features over 180 artists—a new record for the alternative arts and crafts festival. The nature of Colt Bowden’s art is time consuming and may thus seem like an anachronism in today’s digitally fueled world. We Are One Skatepark Grand Opening 07.30.11

We Are One Skatepark Grand Opening 07.30.11

On Saturday, July 30, We Are One Skatepark held its grand opening.  The indoor space located at 7300 S. 621 W.  is reminiscent of what the early X-Games street courses had to offer.  Large steep drops heading into big quarter pipes and wall rides are accompanied by massive graffiti pieces and big flat rails that definitely cater to the bladers and razor riders who inhabit SLC.  The space also has a nice lounge area with a big screen tv and a PS3 hooked up to an internet connection.  If you blade or razor, you’ll be quite comfortable.  If you skate, bring some homies who are gonna push you.  The ramps are big and you better wear a helmet.  … read more
