Magic Trick = The Growlers + Broken Bells
Magic Trick has come quite a ways since their 2011 debut album, The Glad Birth of Love. Their newest showcase incorporates a more psychedelic rock vibe than their other albums. I think it’s safe to congratulate the four band mates on River of Souls, as it’s their best album to date. It’s a fun, lo-fi listen that inevitably makes your head nod to the sound of the percussions. Lead singer Tim Cohen croons in a cool, ’60s tinged way, complemented by an accompanying female voice, keeping it psychedelic, but not losing the driving bass and trumpet of the folk genre. River of Souls is definitely an album to keep loud and keep on repeat. –Lizz Corrigan
