Landshapes =  Vuvuvultures + Dark Horses x Sleater-Kinney

Opening with psychedelic noise guitars on “Stay,” Landshapes try to bring an edge to an otherwise straightforward indie-folk pop album. While the opening track is ambitious, it fails to deliver on what “Stay” promises: loud and proud female vocalists, distorted guitars and anger. The part that pisses me off the most is that almost every song starts out as if it’s going to deliver the feminine rage I’m so desperately seeking, but they quickly dissipate into the realm of indie pop. Don’t get me wrong, indie pop is fine, but when I’m expecting Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein and I get Birdie, I’m more than a little upset. –Allison Shephard
