Jhamasa Corinthian
Retro Love Arcade
Self-Released
Street: 08.13
Jhamasa Corinthian = Kelis + Big Boi
This duo falls somewhere in the middle of hip-hop and R&B, with electric slow jam beats and female soul vocals. The beats emanate an Outkast vibe, using faster tempo and layering synthesizers with simple, repetitive lyricism. With better production, this album would be stronger, as there are points when the vocals are too quiet or not tight enough to match the beat. “Game Over, So DLB” is the most successful track with a slow club feel, but overall the lack of continuity between beats and vocals make it difficult to connect with this music.
