I Can Lick Any Son of a Bitch in the House = The John Spencer Blues Explosion + Left Lane Cruiser + Slim Harpo
I.C.L.A.S.O.A.B.I.T.H, the band with the impossibly long name, have been playing their brand of country blues-rock for 12+ years now, and they’ve only tightened as a band over time. Mayberry runs the gamut of what you might expect from this band, like the downbeat anti-Christmas tune “Dead By Christmas,” a song about a man dying of the black lung over the holidays, or the big-sounding rock anthem “My Guitar,” about guitar dreams and how they’ve changed from the young dream of wanting to play stadiums to being happy to play bars every night. An eclectic blend of blues and Americana, Mayberry might just be the best offering from these guys. The attraction for about this band is that they’ve always seemed original without trying to reinvent the wheel—they stick to the blues, but they play like five cats from Oregon. –James Orme
