Pushing Up Daisies @ Fellowship Hall 11.15
Concert
November 15 was really special. It was a night of many memorable moments. This night was in memory of Brad Hancock, former member of the band Close Grip, and Alex Slack of Lifeless. The night started out with xFOREVER WARx opening the show to a fully packed room at Fellowship Hall in Sugarhouse. Everyone started moshing as soon as the first snare beat was hit. When xFOREVER WARx performed their cover of “Darkness” by Lifeless, everyone in the room started piling on into each other, trying to grab any available microphone in sight—everybody knew the lyrics. Absolved came next and the synergy between the crowd and the band was unmatched. The energy in the room was positively getting stronger and stronger each set. The touring bands End of Dayz and Witness Chamber played some great sets as well.
Close Grip, who hadn’t played live in almost 10 years, opened their set with a very heartfelt message in memory of Brad. The set actually started out with Crow Killer playing before transitioning back to Close Grip. The entire set was quite emotional and impactful, but in a very positive way. Crow Killer ended up closing the set and had Matthew Lloyd come in from the crowd to switch places with Mike Collins to play drums for the last song. It was a truly memorable set.
Pushing Up Daisies closed out the night by playing songs from their Gunslinger EP. The band played with a lot of energy and everyone was excited for their return—it had been over a decade since the band played together. The crowd managed to keep up all of the energy throughout the entire show, which featured six bands in total. Everyone in the room moshed as hard for Pushing Up Daisies just as they did for xFOREVER WARx. It was a legendary and heartfelt night for the Salt Lake Hardcore community—a true celebration of life.
