Day Two Headliner Reviews:
Paramore: Haley Williams joined the main stage with the rest of the band for their performance that would soon introduce Nine Inch Nails. The tiny punk princess, with a fiery orange bob and a black strip of glitter covering her eyes, belted out single after single for over an hour, including hits like “Still Into You,” “That’s What You Get,” “The Only Exception” and “Misery Business,” as well as many others. She introduced the band before closing the set. My 15-year-old self was crying with excitement, and the rest of the crowd seemed to think the same as they screamed and cheered after every song.
Afrojack: Rave. PLUR. Party. The German producer and EDM chart topper closed the Le Plur stage Saturday night with a set featuring his biggest hits and high-energy electro house sound. Much like Calvin Harris, if you’ve seen him once, you’ve seen him enough. He played a mix of his singles like “Rock The House” and his collaboration with Steve Aoki, “No Beef.” The crowd seemingly loved the show, but after talking to a few people in it later that night, they gave the same review: Overly happy ravers in tutus and furry shoes with names like “Rainbow Tree” are getting pretty old, and it made the experience less enjoyable.
Nine Inch Nails: The band came on one by one with Trent Reznor entering last. NIN opened with their song “Copy of A” off their new album, Hesitation Marks (Columbia Records), before playing other hits like “Came Back Haunted.” The band leaned heavily on their classic sound, but reworked a lot of their music to fit with the sound of Hesitation Marks. They also played established hits such as “A Hand That Feeds” and “Head Like A Hole.” The stage featured a wall of LED lights with strobes surrounding and strobes that moved around the ceiling throughout the show. Trent Reznor wore an all-black leather outfit and moved around more than he’s known for in his shows—the overall concert was probably one of the better ones for the day and ended Day Two on a good note.
