Saddle Creek band, Land of Talk and Suuns, both from Montreal, stopped by Kilby Court to play to a somewhat small, but devoted crowd. There was no local opener, so Suuns went on around 8:00.
Autolux @ Urban Lounge
Watching Autolux play is like watching a controlled detonation: so many painstaking details just to watch something explode into a million pieces. Likewise, Autolux’s set was professional down to the last detail. Small, single-bulb lamps and white satin ribbon lights were tied to just about every mic stand and amplifier onstage. The weekend of Aug. 20-22 was one filled with metal, as I visited Club Vegas on Friday, the 20th to see Exodus’ March of Brutality tour, and then witnessed the Pentagrammaton tour featuring Enthroned and Destroyer 666 on Sunday at Bar Deluxe. Seeing an aging musician can be a gamble. I can’t count the number of times I’ve coughed up cash to see some geriatric legend to find myself bored out of my mind watching some drunk, washed-up mess. Deadmau5 at Saltair
I am going to start by saying that I (Eric Hess) had never been to a rave in my life and was honestly excited to see what all the gab is about. I have various friends who like techno music and going to raves. I’d hear their stories and wonder if this is true, I mean it’s just techno music (boom, boom, boom, boom, breakdown, boom, boom, boom.) But after being at this show I see now that it is much more than just bass and flashy lights.
Minus the Bear at In the Venue
