Candy Cranks: Global Feminine Bike Recon

In a world (wide web) where typing “girls on bikes” into Google gives you boobs straddling top tubes, Candy Cranks is redirecting your search options. Founded by Meg Lofts in March of 2009, CandyCranks.com is where women from all over the globe come together to share all things bike-related from the female perspective. Why is such a place needed, a man might ask? Attend any sausage fest … I mean, bicycle event in Salt Lake City and it will be quite obvious that’s not where you go to meet the ladies. … read more

Mexican Millionaires

Mexican Millionaires

It all started with an opportunity to catch a free ride to Bahia de Kino, Mexico. The whole idea seemed impossible to me. How could I have fallen into a chance occurrence of driving to Mexico for an eight-day stay on the beach? The idea was so alluring and romantic that there was no possible way I could pass it up, especially knowing we would be driving, not flying. Traveling by road is a grand excitement that borders on obsession for me. … read more

I’m nearing my mid-30s now and have been skateboarding for a while. I can honestly say I have wheels older than some of the kids at the skatepark. However, I have no problem going out on a Saturday for a day of skateboarding with Matt Winskowski and Garrison Conklin, who are currently in their teenage years. It doesn’t seem creepy at all, even though if I were to talk to anyone else from their school or even close to the same age, I would have nothing to talk about. … read more

ManExpo Skate Contest

ManExpo Skate Contest

It was a David and Goliath battle Saturday April 10th at the Sandy City Expo center. An all ages pro/am skate contest blazed on for seven long hours. As local Utah rippers came out to compete for $4,000 in prize money. Local pros James Atkin and Adam Dyet showed up to show their support and rip it with everyone. In the end, and to no surprise, it was big time heavy hitter Greg Lutzka that took the first place check home along with his fresh new K-Swiss kicks.   … read more

Every year, I think I’ve taken my last photo at the rail garden but somehow this place just keeps producing shots. I had just gotten home the day before from a long, somewhat disappointing trip to the midwest in search of this very kind of snowboarding. I was up at Brighton taking some soul runs to get the stoke back and got a call from Grenier to come shoot something at the rail garden. … read more

See You at The Crossroads

See You at The Crossroads

Winter sucks for the majority of people except snowboarders and people that are affiliated in the snowboard or winter industry. So what is a guy to do if he doesn’t have a mini ramp in his garage or a key to the local snowboard company’s warehouse(the majority of which have minis ramps)? Well, before Crossroads Skatepark in Ogden, we as wood pushers didn’t really have anything since Union in Sandy closed, but now we are saved. … read more

13 Cholos: The Devils Dozen Does Zion

13 Cholos: The Devils Dozen Does Zion
By

The undoubtedly unlucky number 13 and its 2000-year legacy lives on. Stemming from the original posse of Jesus and his 12 disciples makes 13, and a crew of 13 witches makes a coven. We rolled 13 deep to a land the locals call Zion. A mini Mormon Vegas, the righteous flock to this Deseret oasis. Heaven on earth it is. The land and the atmosphere brought us near tears. … read more

A tradition for many years, the Freeskiing World Tour has been coming to the majestic slopes of the ‘Bird and showcasing the skiing talents of riders from near and far.  This year’s event happened to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day, and the crowds got mighty interesting to say the least.  While the snowballs flew and the streakers streaked, the athletes focused their energies and put together some of the sickest lines this side of the equator.  … read more
