Revved Up: 2010 Powder Mountain Motocross- August 19-22
The mellow vibe, scenic landscape, and impending storm combined to make this year’s Powder Mountain Motocross one to remember. The four days of racing began on a rain soaked Thursday and treated the competitors to a mud-fest that tested the skills of even the craftiest riders. … read more
Say My Name
In an age of male dominated sports, especially in Salt Lake City where the ski scene suffers from a raging case of testosterone poisoning, it is nice to see a film that highlights the feminine side of snow sliding. In Stan Evans and Jeremy Miller’s film “Say My Name”, the unlikely pair of directors follows around local hero, and accomplished young woman, Grete Eliassen as she makes her mark on the world. … read more

However, a few minutes into the film, it was abundantly clear the main focus of the documentary was about how fucked up he is. By that I mean he has gone through a lot of ups and downs to get where he is today.

A new breed is stepping up and delivering some of the most amazing, mind-bending performances the world of sports has ever seen. The film’s creators, Russ Sturges and Tyler Bradt, take the viewer on a journey through the expanding territory of whitewater kayaking and deliver a visceral experience that commands attention. Both Sturges and Bradt have had successful careers in the sport, but making the transition from athlete to filmmaker has proved to be as challenging as it has exciting.

I’ve never really considered myself a Slash fan, or a Guns N’ Roses fan for that matter, however, when some friends said they were going to go see Slash and his makeshift band of fellow musicians, I couldn’t resist. Something about seeing a legend like Slash in concert is really exciting. Luckily, I live just up the street from The Depot, so having a few cold ones and cruising down the block is no problem.

Viva La Pow Mow!
Last week’s delivery of fresh ‘Wasatch Gold’ was well received by many, and the heinous crowds in the Cottonwoods proved it. However, while the general population of powder-starved locals waited in the line at the base of the canyon, my friends and I enjoyed an absolutely splendid day at Powder Mountain. Less than an hour drive from SLC, this little gem offers up some 7,000 acres of pure shred-able entertainment, without the egocentric masses that inhabit the slopes closer to town. … read more
SLUG Hits the Slopes at Snowbasin Resort
In Utah, a majority of the population sleeps in or heads to church on Sundays. I decided to rise early and head to my own place of worship. However, instead of one steeple, I stood amongst a dozen snow-clad spires and gazed towards the heavens. As the tiny, white, angels fell from the sky, I knew it was going to be a great day. My usual cathedrals reside in Little Cottonwood Canyon, but today I joined the congregation at Snowbasin for a morning of soul shredding. … read more
