Overview: SLUG Magazine Community Development Internships provide individuals with professional sales, events and sponsorships experience. From organizational and marketing skills to drafting client proposals, SLUG Magazine offers Community Development Interns the opportunity to be part of an independent publication with roots in Utah’s music, arts, events and community subcultures. SLUG Magazine fosters a highly skilled, creative, energized and empowered team. This is a volunteer internship position.

Reports to: Executive Editor, Community Development Manager, Community Development Assistant 

Commitment: One year, 20 hours/week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft proposals, sales and sponsorship documents and contracts 
  • Work with Community Development Team to ensure that all client contracts are fulfilled
  • Work on updating spreadsheets to ensure organization
  • Work on organizing clients’ folders 
  • Work with SLUG’s Marketing Team to activate sponsorship benefits at SLUG events
  • Maintain SLUG Magazine’s core values of quality and transparency 
  • Represent SLUG Magazine at SLUG events and at community events
  • Assist the SLUG Magazine Team in continuing to build a quality, recognizable brand name

  • Analytical abilities, teamwork capabilities and results-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable with administrative work and detail oriented tasks 
  • Formulating and following new processes and procedures

  • Strong communication skills for in-person, telephone and virtual sessions
