TRON!
Being the TRON freak that I am (only 105 days remaining until the sequel, “TRON: Legacy”, is in theaters), I get as giddy as a school girl when anything is released regarding Steven Lisberger’s original creation. With Disney’s upcoming release, the amount of TRON merchandise gearing up to hit the streets is surging, and my anticipation is bursting through the seams of my plaid skirt. … read more
Salty Peaks/ Element Flat Bar-B-Q Rail Jam
Salty Peaks and Element hosted a rail jam and free bbq on August 29 2010. Just off to the side of Salty Peaks in the parking lot was a street course with a funbox, rainbow rail and some other stuff to get tech with. … read more

This week’s effort features a short round up of some shows happening from today through Saturday and a slew of blog exclusive CD reviews, as well as a metal-anger-fueled rant from myself, because being sick pisses me off. … read more
Dew Tour Day 1
Thursday Sept. 16 marked the first day of the Dew Tour—a four-day contest series for some of the big dogs of skateboarding (park and vert), BMX (dirt, vert and park) and freestyle motocross. Salt Lake City is the final stop before the athletes head to the championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dew Tour Day 2
Friday, Sept. 17 was day two at the Dew Tour here in Salt Lake City. If you still haven’t checked it out, you’re running out of time. So hurry up! When I got to Dew Tour today, the first event I scoped out was the skateboard vert prelims where Bob Burnquist was able to work his way past last month’s winner Shaun White. … read more
Dew Tour Day 3
Saturday, Sept. 18 was day three at the Dew Tour and by far the busiest of the four-day event. I checked out the Gatorade Free Flow skatepark finals where Salt Lake City local Tyson Bowerbank held it down and pulled off third place overall. … read more
Dew Tour Day 4
Sunday, Sept. 19 marked the last day of Dew Tour here in Salt Lake City for 2010. It was also the day I was waiting for to see the skate vert finals. The Arena was packed almost every seat filled fans watched in awe as the pros warmed up. As an intro Gatorade put on the grom demo where some super little kids shredded the ramp, there was even a seven year old who did cork 540s! I’d give him his props and shout out his name but due to regulations names of the kids weren’t released. … read more
Avett Brothers @ Deer Valley
If you’ve never heard The Avett Brothers’ music, your life isn’t what it could be—and that’s a fact. Is that a bold statement? Sure is, but they are a bold band: they cross lines, break boundaries and smash genres to pieces within a single song. To do that, and make it sound good, is no easy task. … read more
Autolux @ Urban Lounge
Watching Autolux play is like watching a controlled detonation: so many painstaking details just to watch something explode into a million pieces. Likewise, Autolux’s set was professional down to the last detail. Small, single-bulb lamps and white satin ribbon lights were tied to just about every mic stand and amplifier onstage. With as much exposition as Autolux put into their live show the performance itself exceeded the lofty expectations set by mood and ambience. … read more
Donna Orbits the Moon
For a one-woman play about mid-menopausal schizophrenia, Donna Orbits the Moon seemed pretty spot on. The play touched on family, friends, bake sales and feelings of insanity. I’m no forty-something year old, but based on the reaction of the audience members of that age and their slightly amused husbands, I’d say it was relatable on more than a few levels.
Titus Andronicus with Free Energy @ Kilby 09.14
I thought I’d be the only Titus Andronicus fan at this show, but was pleasantly surprised when a friend showed up who was just as eager to see them. The crowd was intimate, but lively.
