Blank Realm = MGMT + Big Star + Jacobites
Blank Realm produce a hypnotic sound blended with Nikki Sudden type vocals, courtesy of Daniel Spencer, that is sure to put the unwary listener into a trance nearly impossible to escape. On one end, there is the dance of the psychedelic and electronica with a splash of synth that makes up most of the tracks like “Violet Delivery” and “Reach You on the Phone.”
On the other end, there is the steady, catchy beat of “Falling Down the Stairs” that evokes a nostalgia for Echo and the Bunnymen. Simply put, this is quite brilliantly put together. Now roll one up, put your feet up, and ride. –Nick Kuzmack
