Dream Slut are Elowyn LaPointe , Kayla Dowell , Bianca Velasquez and Summer Sigritz . They play what they describe as “DramaQueen Punk” and all have their own distinct style.
Special thanks to Kilby Court , who hosted this month’s SLUG Style at their colorful and quirky all-ages music venue.
Every month, SLUG Style features distinct and unique members of the community and asks them why they do what they do. Exploring more than just clothing, SLUG Style is an attempt to feature the people who give Salt Lake City flavor through personality and panache.

“I like to do different things, like wear really dressy things and the red lipstick and the simple eyeliner,” says LaPointe. “I like to wear crop tops and high-waisted jeans and Converse and kind of just switch it up between the two.” Photo: @clancycoop
“I just recently shaved my head,” says Sigritz. “It’s a weird look, but I feel like it’s pretty intense. It’s a bold statement that I’m making with whatever I wear, and I wear a lot of long coats and a lot of leather. Yeah, it says a lot about my personality and how in-your-face I can get.”

About her style, Dowell says, “Lately I haven’t really been going for anything specific. I’ve definitely gone from your vintage hippie from high school to punk chick, skaterish-esque girl. I think I found a middle of that and [am] definitely trying to bring back a lot of style from the ’70s.”

“Most of my outfits are accidents,” says Velasquez. “They just happen. I just go and wear things that don’t look crazy and try to be as myself as possible. I feel like the best way to describe it is a childish business woman who misunderstood an episode of Mad Men and really took a lot from it—but she shouldn’t have.”

“I like shoes. I have a lot of black shoes, lots of different kinds,” says Dowell. “The ones I’m wearing now are pretty chunky with leather lace up the back. They have three-inch heels, which are pretty ’90s punk, I would say.”

“I like that really classic but sexy style, but I like to just dress like my own,” says LaPointe. “I’m also really influenced by Joan Jett, too, like that rocker kind of style. Then, just keeping it more elegant looking.” Photo: @clancycoop
“I don’t really have any big influences in the way that I dress myself,” says Sigritz. “It’s just how I’m feeling.” Photo: @clancycoop
“I’m really inspired by the classic, Chicana look with the hoop earrings and the red lipstick and the eyeliner and all of that stuff,” says Velasquez. “I don’t incorporate it into my style as much as I want to, but that does inspire me a lot—bright colors and things like that.”
